Nepeta faassenii ‘Walker's Low’
Catnip plants are herbaceous plants with greenish-gray leaves and blue or white flowers in a loose spike. Most Catnip varieties like sun and well-drained soil that is dry to moderately moist. Too much nutrition and moisture makes the plant weak. Catnip has a long flowering time and most varieties are nectar suppliers for bees.
Some species also attract cats, especially those from the 'faassenii' group. You can place neighboring plants that cats hate, such as Rue (Ruta), Cranesbill (Geranium) of the species 'macrorrhizum' and Tansy (Tanacetum). Cut Catnip back halfway after the first bloom to prevent spreading and encourage a second bloom. Combines well with soft yellow Chamomile (Anthemis) and Feather Grass (Stipa).
