Detail
As winter slowly gives way to spring, the crocus Aqua is one of the first flowers to bring colour to the garden. The soft, pale blue petals, with their delicate dark veining, often begin to open whilst the last of the cold days are still passing, sometimes even through a thin layer of snow. This makes this organic crocus not only a beautiful sight, but also an important early source of food for wild bees, bumblebee queens and other pollinators that set out in search of nectar and pollen after winter.
Why choose organic crocus bulbs?
Crocus Aqua combines an elegant appearance with vigorous, natural growth. The flowers grow to a height of around 10 to 15 centimetres, making her perfect for borders, rockeries, tree bases, lawns and pots. Plant the crocus bulbs in the autumn in a sunny or partially shaded spot in well-drained soil and enjoy their early bloom anew every spring. Under the right conditions, the bulbs naturalise easily, allowing them to spread slowly and return in greater numbers each year. In this way, these early-flowering bulbs not only provide a colourful start to the season, but also make a valuable contribution to biodiversity in your garden.
Surprisingly versatile
The bright light-blue colour of crocus Aqua is reminiscent of melting ice and fresh spring water. This makes this organic crocus a wonderful match for white snowdrops, botanical daffodils and other early-flowering bulbs. Crocus Aqua is also special indoors, as the bulbs can be forced in water in a glass vase, just like hyacinths. This allows you to bring spring into your home early and enjoy the graceful flowers up close. Crocus Aqua also belongs to the same plant family as the saffron crocus, although they flower in different seasons and each has its own charm.
A small flower of great value to nature
Precisely because crocus Aqua flowers so early, this crocus is of great importance to wild pollinators. At a time when very few flowers are offering nectar and pollen, this early bloomer helps bumblebees, solitary bees and other insects to get the energy they need to start the new season. By choosing organic flower bulbs, you’re also helping to create a garden free from unnecessary chemical pesticides, where biodiversity is given free rein. This way, you not only enjoy a colourful spring, but you’re also making a conscious choice for a more natural and insect-friendly garden.
