Dahlia Heatwave - BIO

Dahlia “Heatwave” brings a warm glow to your garden. The double flowers have a bright, vermilion-red colour that contrasts beautifully with the dark green foliage and the sturdy, dark stems. The neatly arranged petals come together to form a full, rounded flower that is somewhat reminiscent of a water lily.

Compact but not modest

Standing at around 50 to 60 centimetres tall, ‘Heatwave’ is a fairly compact dahlia. This makes it ideal for a spot at the front of a border, so it won’t get lost amongst the rest. She also looks great in a spacious pot on a sunny terrace or balcony. When planting in a pot, always ensure there are holes in the base so that excess water can drain away easily.

Everybody’s friend

This organic dahlia grows in a bushy, sturdy form. In a sheltered spot, she usually requires little support and is an easy variety to grow in the garden. The striking red flowers combine beautifully with colours such as white, pale yellow and pink, but she also looks lovely alongside various ornamental grasses. For a more striking colour display, you can also plant her among other flowers in warm shades. She is, in fact, very versatile!

Months of enjoyment

Feel free to cut a few flowers to make a colourful summer bouquet. By picking flowers and regularly removing spent blooms, “Heatwave” will channel more energy into forming new buds, resulting in a longer flowering period.
