Tulipa Lingerie - ORG

The name is no coincidence: the petals of the Tulipa Lingerie have a delicately fringed edge that does indeed bring to mind lace. White as a base, with a soft pink border that runs precisely along those fringes – as if someone patiently finished each petal by hand. A tulip that is more reminiscent of refined craftsmanship than a simple spring-flowering variety, and one you’d find hard to believe until you see it with your own eyes. It blooms in a compact form, reaching around 40 centimetres in height, and therefore appears understated rather than showy. Just as refinement usually does.

Lace in floral form

The fringed edge is what sets this tulip apart from the rest: each petal ends in dozens of tiny, ice-crystal-like points that catch the light just a little differently than a smooth edge would. The effect is subtle yet refined, and is best seen up close or in a bouquet, where you can really admire the details. Especially when backlit, the edge of each petal seems to glisten, as if dewdrops were clinging to the fringes.

Late-flowering, elegant and organically grown

The ‘Lingerie’ blooms late in spring, when many other tulips have already finished flowering, thus extending the season with an elegant, somewhat more refined touch. Plant the organic tulip bulbs in the autumn at a depth of around 10 cm, in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Like all bulbs at Natural Bulbs, the Lingerie is organically grown and certified NL-BIO-01, so you’re planting a bulb that you know has been produced with the utmost care. It also makes a lovely cut flower: a few stems in a vase really bring out the fringed edge, and they last longer than you’d expect from such a delicate flower. A small detail that makes the whole bouquet just that little bit more special.
