Allium Mix - ORG

Most allium mixes go for purple. Not this one. Natural Bulbs’ Allium Mix combines yellow with white, to get the garden into a summery mood. Jeannine, with her yellow bulb and the tiny white flowers of the Cowanii, will not only catch the eye of passers-by, but also that of the bees.

For bees at just the right time

Both varieties in this mix flower in late spring – just when the crocuses and tulips have finished flowering but the true summer bloomers are yet to appear. For bees, this is precisely the time when an extra supply of nectar is most welcome. The allium flowers are easily accessible to bees and butterflies, making this mix an ecologically sound choice too.

Planting and combining

Plant the bulbs in autumn, 8–10 cm deep, in a sunny, well-drained spot. The mix is highly versatile: it looks lovely alongside late-flowering daffodils, next to perennials in shades of green and silver, or as an airy complement to taller ornamental alliums such as ‘Purple Sensation’ or ‘Gladiator’.
