Bigger isn’t always better. The Minnow daffodil proves this time and time again. Small in size, yet a profuse bloomer, wonderfully fragrant and extremely reliable. The white petals with their yellow centre have a fresh, innocent look, and they appear in great numbers in mid-spring. An affordable and environmentally friendly way to enhance your garden – who wouldn’t want that?
Abundant flowering and fragrant
The Minnow is a so-called tazetta daffodil, a variety known for its abundant flowering and strong fragrance. Each bulb produces several flowers, giving it a lush appearance despite its small size. The scent is pleasant and fresh – not overpowering, but distinct enough to catch your attention as you walk past in the garden. It also makes an excellent cut flower: a handful of Minnow stems in a small vase will fill a whole room with fragrance.
Naturalisation and planting
Plant the bulbs in autumn, about 10 cm deep, in a sunny to lightly shaded spot with well-drained soil. The Minnow naturalises easily and returns every year – and over the years it becomes fuller and produces more abundant blooms. It also thrives in a pot on the balcony, and is small enough for the front of a border without overpowering other plants. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
