Black Currant Shrub - ORG
Reference: F1011
Ben Navis is a vigorous blackcurrant variety with a high yield and large, aromatic berries. This blackcurrant bush grows somewhat wider and reaches a height of about 120 to 150 cm. Around mid-May, the bush blooms with inconspicuous white-pink flowers that attract pollinating insects. After flowering, large clusters of glossy black berries develop. For optimal yield and sweeter fruit, the bush prefers a sunny location. The berries are typically ready to harvest from June through July. They can be eaten fresh but are also ideal for jam, juice, or desserts. Blackcurrants are among the healthiest berry varieties thanks to their high vitamin C content. Prune the shrub between February and March by removing older and dead branches. This stimulates the growth of young shoots and ensures a healthy plant with a bountiful harvest. The bush is easy to care for and often bears fruit after just one year. It loses its leaves in winter but is highly hardy and can withstand temperatures down to about -34 °C. Organically grown rooted plant in a 1-liter pot with abundant ecological soil life.
