Detail
The website describes it perfectly: the spectacle continues to captivate every day. Large pink flowers on sturdy 60-centimetre stems, with a soft green pattern running through the petals. But what really makes it special is the colour gradient: as the flower matures, the shade shifts. What starts as a fresh pink becomes warmer and deeper. As if the flower is slowly coming to life.
The Impression group
Impression tulips are in a class of their own — Darwin hybrids renowned for their size, sturdiness and flowering duration. They are larger than most other tulips, grow on straight stems that rarely topple over, and last remarkably long in the border. The Pink Impression is a classic within this group: pink, large and reliable. In a good spot, it also has the potential to return for several years.
In the border and in the vase
In the border, the Pink Impression combines beautifully with white Allium, late daffodils or lilac perennials — pink and white or pink and purple are always a winning combination. It flowers late, making it a valuable choice to round off the spring season. As a cut flower, cut the stems early in the morning when the bud is just beginning to show colour, place them in cold water — they’ll last for weeks and display that colour gradient once more in the vase.
Planting
Plant the bulbs in autumn at a depth of around 15 cm in a sunny, well-drained spot. Plant several bulbs together for a fuller effect — groups of five or more create the greatest impact in the border. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01, grown without artificial fertilisers or chemical pesticides.
