    Detail
Spring flowering, Specialty bulbs

Sabagold is one of those garlic varieties that you’ll be happy to make room for in your vegetable garden. This organic autumn garlic produces large, uniform white bulbs with rounded cloves in a brownish-yellow skin. The variety is known for its good yield and vigorous growth. With its slightly spicy flavour and delicate aroma, Sabagold is also a real all-rounder in the kitchen: from a simple pasta sauce to roasted vegetables or homemade garlic oil.

A robust garlic for the vegetable garden

Sabagold is an autumn garlic of the Allium sativum variety and is planted before winter sets in. It is precisely this long period in the ground that gives the cloves time to develop a sturdy root system. Sabagold is also quite hardy and copes well with various soil types, even when the soil is a little lighter. This makes this variety ideal for both a spacious vegetable garden and a smaller plot where you’d like to grow reliable vegetables.

From a single clove to a substantial bulb

What makes Sabagold so appealing is how well it grows. You plant a single clove, let nature take its course, and by spring you’ll have a bulb with around 10 to 15 cloves. This is common for softneck varieties, to which Sabagold belongs. Softneck garlic does not have a hard flowering stem like hardneck garlic. This means the neck of the plant remains flexible, which allows you to plait the harvested garlic, for example. Not only is this handy, but it looks nice too. Softneck garlic is also known for its good shelf life, and this applies to Sabagold as well.

Enjoy with pride

Sabagold has a slightly spicy, aromatic flavour, making it incredibly versatile in the kitchen. A clove stirred into a pasta sauce, finely chopped into a dressing, sautéed with vegetables or simply roasted slowly: anything goes. What’s more, freshly harvested, organic garlic from your own vegetable garden has something that supermarket garlic simply can’t match. You planted it yourself, harvested it yourself, and now there it is, right on your chopping board. You have every right to be proud of that.
