Creeping Phlox - Phlox sub. White Delight - Compact - ORG

As soon as spring gets underway, Phlox subulata ‘White Delight’ is covered with a dense carpet of small, star-shaped white flowers. They appear so abundantly that the delicate, evergreen foliage is almost hidden beneath them for weeks. The result is a low, cushion-shaped flowering mass that looks light and fresh.

Thanks to its creeping growth habit, ‘White Delight’ is ideal for rock gardens, along a low wall, or as the edge of a border. It also looks lovely next to a garden path, where it slowly spreads into a low, flowering carpet.

A Perennial for Rock Gardens and Flower Beds

This phlox prefers a sunny to lightly shaded spot in well-drained soil. It does not tolerate wet feet well, so choose a spot where excess water drains away easily.

After flowering, you can lightly prune the plant to keep it compact and encourage a second, smaller bloom. Otherwise, ‘White Delight’ requires little maintenance: once established, it is hardy and grows almost on its own. If you want to propagate it, you can do so by dividing the plant in March or by taking cuttings in late spring to early summer.  

The flowers appear from April through June. This way, Phlox subulata ‘White Delight’ adds a fresh white accent to the garden right as spring turns to summer.

The plant is delivered in a compact pot. This means you’ll receive a young, already-rooted plant that you can plant directly in the garden as soon as the soil is workable.
