Detail
There’s red, and then there’s fiery red. The Red Impression leaves no room for doubt. Whilst the Pink Impression is soft and the Salmon Impression subtle, the Red Impression is straightforward: large, broad, deep red and striking. Standing on 60-centimetre-tall stems, it stands out in the border like an exclamation mark. You can see it from afar. You’ll notice it for a long time to come.
The Impression family
Impression tulips are Darwin hybrids bred for size, sturdiness and flowering duration. They are larger than most other tulips, grow on straight stems that rarely topple over, and remain in the border for a remarkably long time. The Red Impression is the most striking colour in this family – a fiery red with no nuances or gradients. It’s the perfect tulip for anyone who loves colour and isn’t afraid to show it.
In the border and in the vase
In the border, the Red Impression combines beautifully with white varieties – Allium ‘Mount Everest’, white daffodils or late-flowering white perennials – to create a classic red-and-white contrast. It also works well alongside darker shades such as aubergine or purple. As a cut flower, it makes a real statement: a bunch of red Impression tulips in a vase fills a room. Cut the stems early in the morning when the bud is just beginning to show colour.
Planting
Plant the bulbs in autumn at a depth of around 15 cm in a sunny, well-drained spot. In a nutrient-rich spot, the Red Impression is likely to return for several years. Plant several bulbs together – groups of five or more create the greatest impact in the border. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
