You just can’t stop looking at it. The Salmon Impression has a colour gradient that’s constantly changing. Starting out salmon pink, with a delicate green streak running down the centre of the petals — but as the flower matures, the shade slowly shifts. What is still fresh and soft when it first opens becomes warmer and deeper as the days go by. As if the sun were slowly seeping into it.
An Impression tulip
Impression tulips are in a class of their own — large, sturdy and with a flowering period that other tulips cannot match. The Salmon Impression grows on sturdy 60-centimetre stems, with flowers that open impressively and remain long-lasting even when fully open. It looks majestic in the border. In a vase, it makes a statement — especially when combined with other late-flowering tulips in shades of white or aubergine. Plant the bulbs in the autumn, about 15 cm deep, in a sunny spot.
Extend spring
The Salmon Impression flowers late in spring — just when many other varieties have already finished flowering. This makes it a strategic choice in a well-planned border: it takes over the baton. Combine it with earlier-flowering varieties for a flowering period spanning several weeks. As a cut flower, cut the stems early in the morning when the bud is just beginning to colour, place them in cold water and enjoy the colour gradient indoors. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
