There are so many beautiful Alliums that choosing can be quite a challenge. That’s why we’ve done the hard work for you. This collection brings together four different organic ornamental alliums: from the imposing Allium Gladiator to the elegant Mount Everest, complemented by Violet Beauty and Magic. Together, they add height, colour and texture to the garden, just when many other spring-flowering plants are finishing their season. No stress over choosing, just a border that keeps surprising you for weeks on end.

Four personalities in one pack

Gladiator and Magic are the giants of the bunch and can grow up to 130 centimetres tall; real eye-catchers at the back of the border. Mount Everest keeps it snow-white and slightly more understated, whilst Violet Beauty goes for a vibrant purple. Together, sixteen organic allium bulbs, spread across four varieties, each with its own height and character, so you don’t have to figure it out yourself and can still create a layered border in one go that makes a real impact.

Late-flowering varieties with good reason

Whilst most organic spring bulbs reach their peak in March and April, these Alliums wait until May and June. This is no coincidence: it means this collection ties in beautifully with tulips and daffodils that have just finished flowering, and keeps the border in bloom well into spring, ensuring there is no bare patch. At the same time, the open flowers are rich in nectar and pollen. Wild bees, bumblebees, butterflies and other pollinators therefore have no trouble finding these ornamental onions. This makes the collection not only an asset to the garden, but also to biodiversity.

Well worth it even after flowering

It’s no surprise that alliums are popular in cut-flower gardens: the round flower heads stay beautiful in a vase for weeks, and even when they’ve finished flowering and dried out, they retain their shape. Simply leave a few bulbs in the border and you’ll still have decorative spherical shapes amongst the other greenery for the rest of the summer. Ideal for those who prefer a slightly wilder, more natural garden look without anything appearing dead or neglected.

Plants for a striking border

Plant the bulbs in autumn in a sunny spot, about 15 to 20 centimetres deep depending on the variety. Alliums thrive in well-drained soil and grow best when planted in clusters. Once planted, they require little attention and return year after year, often with a few extra bulbs that have propagated.
